Each September, The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) sponsors Blood Cancer Awareness Month to advocate for patients and help create awareness of blood cancers and the urgent need to fund research for lifesaving therapies.

Over its 60-year history, LLS has invested nearly $1 billion to advance cancer therapies. Remarkable progress has been made, yet more than one million North Americans are fighting blood cancers, the third leading cause of cancer deaths.

A new survey we commissioned shows an alarming knowledge gap about blood cancers:

  • 86% of adults were surprised to learn that treatments for some chronic diseases were initially tested and FDA approved as treatments for blood cancers.
  • 94% of younger adults (ages 18-34) were surprised to learn that researchers are close to a cure for some blood cancers.
  • 81% of younger adults were surprised to learn that more than a third of blood cancer patients do not survive.

With your help, we can educate people – and reach our goal of a world without blood cancers.

Donate today and help us save lives, not someday, but today.
